Place : Yellow Chilli
Address: Sunrise tower, Mangal Pandey Nagar, Meerut
Yellow Chilli is Sanjeev Kapoor’s curated restaurant chain all over India. I happened to visit on gin my hometown Meerut and the experience has been exhilarating.
I had a proper Four Course Meal.
To begin with,
We kicked off with Tomato Shorba served along with Vinegar, Chilli sauce and soya sauce. It is called a Tomato shorba (spiced tomato soup) and not a tomato soup because it is a significantly lightened version of the classic receipe!
Next in line were the Starters.
Before beginning, hats off to the presentation and hospitality sans any doubt.
For the starters, First that came in were the ‘Karara Subz Roll’ which are crispy spring rolls with crunchy vegetables in tamarind, chilli and garlic sauce. The flavour of each and every ingredient was so significantly felt. The presentation in those shot glasses with the dip was surely a delight.
Following this, the next starter that came in was the newly launched ‘Papaya Peanut Kachumber’ made up of raw papaya and roasted Gujarat peanuts with sour lemon dressing. Its literally hard to explain in words how delectable the dish was.
The last starter I tasted was the Royal Hard Bhara Kebab with pan fried pea patties stuffed with spiced hung yogurt.
We finally proceeded towards the main course.
The menu and spread was pretty creative and unique.
We had 3 dishes-
- Laal Mussa Daal – one of the best sellers at The Yellow Chilli, this dal is cooked for 36 hours straight before being served
- Shaam Savera- Its not any ordinary Paneer Curry but this was the first dish curated by Master Chef Sanjeev Kapoor at Khana Khaazana. The presentation owes to its name
- Anglo Indian Vegetable Zalfrezi
The breads served were also unusual and of course, delicious.
- Tomato Cheese Naan- It tastes like you are having a pizza loaded with cheese. It was my favourite of all the things I tasted. What an innovation and the way it was prepared and cooked is definitely praiseworthy.
2. Peshawari Naan- This was a huge richly presented bread infused with nuts. It was sweet and believe me, you can just have the naan without any curry and you are going to love it.
Last part of the meal, the desserts!
I was literally full by the time I had my main course but as they say ‘ You always have an extra dessert pocket’ so I somehow tasted that too.
We were served two beautifully presented desserts-
- Gulaab Jamun with nuts and with a twist, Gulkand. Have you ever had Gulaab Jamun with Gulkand? I have never and trust me, it does taste mind-blowing.
- Second was the Chocolate brownie, Crunchies with the vanilla ice cream.
This was the end to our food tasting. I will not lie, I slept a lot post going home owing to the amount of food I have had.
I was really impressed by their cuisine, hospitality and ambience.
Personally, I would like to rate them as follows-
Food – 5/5
Hospitality – 4/5
Ambience – 3/5
Overall- 4.5/5
